Furniture is awkward long before it is heavy.

A sectional that went into a basement in pieces has to come out in pieces. A mattress does not go round a stairwell landing without bending. A dresser is a two person carry the moment there is a step involved. Tyler does this every week and brings the equipment to do it without taking the door frame with it.

Furniture is also the category most likely to still have life in it. A couch that is out of style but structurally sound is worth donating, and Deseret Industries, Tabitha's Way and the ReStore in Orem all take furniture. That is checked first, before anything is written off.

Mattresses are the exception people ask about most. They do not donate well for hygiene reasons and most donation centers refuse them, so they are handled as disposal and priced with the rest of the load.

Why this job goes to Scrap Solutions

Clear the room, not just the curb.

Apartments and second floor units

Stairs, tight corners and shared hallways are normal, not an exception. There is no surcharge for a walk up.

Donation gets checked first

If a piece is sound it goes to Deseret Industries, Tabitha's Way or the ReStore in Orem. You do not pay less for it, but it does not become landfill either.

The room gets swept

Furniture that has sat for years leaves dust, coins and lost remotes behind it. That gets cleaned up before Tyler leaves.

Questions

Furniture Removal FAQ

Will you take a mattress?

Yes. Mattresses are handled as disposal rather than donation, because donation centers will not accept them, and the cost is included in the load price.

Do you take the furniture apart?

Yes, where it needs to come apart to get out of the room. Bed frames, sectionals and modular desks get broken down as part of the job.

Can furniture be donated instead of dumped?

Where it is in usable shape, yes. Deseret Industries, Tabitha's Way and the ReStore in Orem take sound furniture. Anything damaged, wet or infested is disposal only, and Tyler will say which it is when he sees it.

I only have one item. Is that worth your time?

Yes. Single item pickups are a normal part of the week and are priced at the $125 minimum.
