Appliance Removal in Utah County, UT

Fridges, washers, dryers, ranges, water heaters and the chest freezer in the basement. Carried out, loaded, and taken to a metal recycler rather than a hole in the ground.

  • Metal recycled, not dumped
  • Basement and upstairs pickups
  • $125 minimum

The part that stops people is the stairs, not the appliance.

A washer is not heavy because of what it weighs. It is heavy because it has to come up a basement stairwell, round a corner and through a door frame that was not measured with a washer in mind. That is the whole job, and it is the reason most of these sit for a year after they stop working.

Tyler brings the straps and the dolly and does the carrying. Water lines and dryer vents get disconnected on the spot if they are still hooked up, and the space gets swept before he leaves.

Appliances are mostly steel, and steel has a real recycler on the other end of it. Metal from these jobs goes to Western Metals or MCR. An appliance that still runs and is worth having goes to Deseret Industries or the ReStore in Orem instead.

Appliances taken

  • Refrigerators, freezers and chest freezers
  • Washers and dryers, gas or electric
  • Ranges, ovens, cooktops and range hoods
  • Dishwashers and built in microwaves
  • Water heaters and softeners
  • Window air conditioners and swamp coolers
  • Small appliances by the box load

Worth knowing before you call

  • A fridge or freezer should be emptied and defrosted first. A unit full of water is heavier, messier and can leak in the trailer
  • Commercial walk in coolers and built in units that need a contractor to disconnect are quoted separately, not as a standard pickup

What it costs

A single appliance falls under the $125 minimum. Several at once usually still fits a half load, which starts at $350. A full kitchen and laundry cleared at once is a full load, starting at $650.

Why this job goes to Scrap Solutions

Get the old one out of the way.

Basements and second floors

The stairs are the reason you are calling and they are priced into the same quote. There is no separate stair fee and no surcharge for a tight turn.

Steel goes to a recycler

Western Metals and MCR take the metal. It is a real destination Tyler can name, not a vague promise that things get recycled somewhere.

Still works? It gets donated

A working appliance in reasonable shape is worth more to Deseret Industries or the ReStore in Orem than it is as scrap, and that is where it goes.

Questions

Appliance Removal FAQ

Do you take refrigerators and freezers with the compressor still in them?

Yes. They go to a metal recycler that handles the unit properly. You just need to empty and defrost it first so it is not full of water when it goes on the trailer.

Can you disconnect the washer and dryer?

Yes, standard hookups get disconnected on the spot. Anything that needs a plumber or an electrician to make safe is a job for that trade first, and Tyler will tell you that on the quote rather than after.

What happens to the appliance?

Metal goes to Western Metals or MCR for recycling. Anything still working and worth using goes to Deseret Industries, Tabitha's Way or the ReStore in Orem. Landfill is the last option, not the default one.

How much for one washer?

One appliance is a $125 minimum job. If you have two or three, ask for a quote on the lot together because it is usually cheaper than three separate trips.
